Textron (NYSE:TXT) is a global company known for products in aviation, defense, and industrial sectors. It operates well-known brands like Cessna, Beechcraft, and Bell. The company is now shifting its strategy to focus more on its core aerospace and defense businesses, which are showing strong growth.
Analyst firm Jefferies shows confidence in Textron, reiterating a Buy rating on May 3, 2026. At the time, the stock price was $94.72 per share. Jefferies also increased its price target for the stock to $115 from the previous $110, suggesting potential for future price growth.
This positive outlook follows strong first-quarter 2026 results. Textron reported adjusted earnings of $1.45 per share, beating analyst estimates of $1.30. Total revenues also grew by 11.8% year-over-year to $3.7 billion, surpassing expectations of $3.51 billion for the quarter.
Growth is driven by high demand in the aviation market. This is clear from the company's backlog, which is the total value of orders waiting to be filled. The Textron Aviation and Bell segments report significant backlogs of $8 billion and $7.6 billion, respectively.
As highlighted by The Wall Street Journal, Textron plans to separate its industrial segment. This move allows the company to concentrate on its high-performing aerospace operations. The company is exploring a sale or a tax-free spinoff of the industrial unit into a new public company.
