Citigroup kept its "Buy" rating on the stock, which was trading at $185.66.

The positive analyst rating follows a strong second quarter for State Street. The company reported earnings per share (EPS) of $3.65, which was 10.61% higher than the expected $3.30. EPS represents a company's profit divided by its outstanding shares, showing how profitable it is for each share of stock.

This performance was driven by record revenues of $4.05 billion, a 17% increase from the same quarter last year. The company’s net interest income (NII), the profit it makes from its lending activities, also grew by 18%. This growth was highlighted by Zacks Investment Research as a key factor in the results.

State Street also saw its assets under management (AUM) reach a record $6.28 trillion. AUM is the total market value of the investments that a company handles for its clients. Additionally, its assets under custody and administration (AUC/A) hit a new high of $57.86 trillion, showing strong market gains and client inflows.

However, a report from Seeking Alpha notes that while fee revenue grew, it did not keep pace with the growth in assets under custody. This was balanced by strong performance in other areas like foreign exchange trading. Higher operating expenses also partially reduced the overall gains from the record revenue.
