Needham analyst Ryan Koontz has set a $105.00 price target for Viasat (NASDAQ: VSAT), suggesting a 29.58% potential upside from its current stock price of $81.03. Viasat, a leading global communications provider, specializes in delivering advanced satellite-based internet services and secure networking systems to commercial, government, and military customers worldwide.

A significant catalyst for this positive outlook is the highly anticipated ViaSat-3 satellite constellation, which is rapidly approaching commercial service. As noted by Zacks, Viasat anticipates two new satellites to be fully operational by September 2026. This strategic expansion is poised to substantially boost satellite capacity and drive considerable growth in critical aviation and maritime markets.

Viasat's Defense and Advanced Technologies (DAT) division is also demonstrating robust momentum. The company recently reported record DAT awards totaling $524.00 million, marking a substantial 22% increase. This impressive performance contributed to a 32% rise in the division's backlog, which now stands at a solid $1.40 billion.

Financially, Viasat reported mixed first-quarter results. Non-GAAP earnings per share (EPS) came in at $0.17, significantly beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.10 by 70%. However, total revenues of $1.16 billion fell slightly short of the $1.20 billion consensus, primarily due to ongoing challenges within older commercial services segments.

Despite the slight revenue shortfall, Viasat's overall financial health is showing clear signs of improvement. Free cash flow, a crucial indicator of operational efficiency, rose by an impressive 19% to $72.00 million. Furthermore, Viasat successfully reduced its debt, enhancing its net leverage ratio to 3.2x, and significantly narrowed its net loss to $51.70 million for the quarter.
