Tech Hardware and Semiconductor Stocks Decline Despite Broader Market Gains

Profusa, Inc. (NASDAQ: PFSA) recorded the steepest decline, falling 52.69% to a regular-session close of $13.00. The shares traded between approximately $11.71 and $21.24. The volatility followed a one-for-four reverse stock split that became effective on August 17, 2026. The split reduced outstanding shares from approximately 2.42 million to about 605,726, but a reverse split does not by itself change the company’s market value or the proportional value of an investor’s holdings.

Wolfspeed, Inc. (NYSE: WOLF) fell approximately 7.5% to around $29.10 during the regular session. After the market closed, Wolfspeed, Inc. (NYSE: WOLF) reported that its fiscal 2026 AI data-center revenue had more than doubled year over year. Nevertheless, the company also posted a wider-than-expected quarterly loss and a revenue miss, sending its shares lower in after-hours trading. Because the earnings report was released after the closing bell, it did not cause the regular-session decline.

Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE: DELL) declined 6.64% to $437.55, marking its fourth consecutive losing session. The move came despite continued optimism about the company’s AI-server business and a recent Wells Fargo price-target increase. Strong AI demand therefore provides important business context, but it should not be presented as positive news released during the session that directly explains the decline.

Qnity Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: Q) fell 5.67% to $126.04. No major company-specific announcement was identified that clearly explained the decline. The movement was more consistent with weakness across semiconductor-related stocks.

Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) declined approximately 4.65% to $152.46. The company has substantial exposure to AI-related optical connectivity, but it has also experienced considerable volatility following a strong earlier rally and its July earnings report. That report showed 32% growth in Optical Communications sales, although investors reacted negatively to the company’s outlook. Corning Incorporated’s official results reported quarterly core sales of $4.74 billion and core EPS of $0.78.

Overall, the declines reflected a combination of company-specific developments and weakness in semiconductor and AI-infrastructure stocks. Profusa, Inc. (NASDAQ: PFSA) was affected by post-split volatility, while Wolfspeed, Inc. (NYSE: WOLF), Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE: DELL), Qnity Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: Q), and Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) underperformed during a session in which the major market indexes posted small gains.
