Nike (NYSE: NKE) Stock Analysis: Navigating Market Headwinds, China Challenges, and Analyst Price Targets

Font: Financial Modeling Prep  • Oct 02, 2026

Market Chart
  • Analyst Outlook: Jefferies sets a $60.00 price target for Nike shares, significantly above its current trading price of $35.15, indicating a strong potential for stock improvement.
  • Financial Performance & Market Challenges: Nike faces declining revenue, a 10% premarket stock drop, and a substantial 26% revenue decline in Greater China, with recovery not anticipated until fiscal 2028 or later due to intense local competition.
  • Strategic Adjustments & Future Outlook: The sportswear giant plans layoffs in 2027 (following earlier cuts in 2026) and is strategically reducing Jordan Brand launches to manage oversupply, a move expected to impact fiscal 2027 results but bolster long-term brand health and Nike's market position.

Nike (NYSE: NKE) is a sportswear company that sells shoes, clothing and equipment, including products under its Jordan Brand. It competes with other global brands and, in China, local rivals. Jefferies analyst Randal Konik sets a $60.00 price target while the shares trade at $35.15. That target is about 70.7% above the share price.

The gap between the target and the current price shows how much improvement the $60.00 target assumes. Nike trades at $35.15, down $0.25, or 0.71%, with a market value of about $52.00 billion. Its 52-week trading range is $35.02 to $74.78.

Recent results make that improvement harder to judge. As highlighted by CNBC, Nike shares fall 10% in premarket trading after the company reports declining revenue and gives an outlook that disappoints investors. Nike also plans layoffs in 2027 after two rounds of staff cuts earlier in 2026.

As highlighted by Barron’s, Nike’s earnings show a slow turnaround. Sneaker sales are difficult across the industry, but Nike faces particular pressure. Revenue in Greater China falls 26% year over year, and management does not expect a recovery there until fiscal 2028 or later because of strong local competition.

A Seeking Alpha analyst lowers their fair value estimate to $34.00–$40.00 per share after Nike’s weak fiscal first-quarter results and fiscal 2027 guidance. That estimate is an assessment of what the shares are worth, rather than a trading price. Nike is reducing Jordan Brand launches to limit oversupply, a move the analyst expects to hurt fiscal 2027 results but help the brand longer term.
