Investment firm Raymond James recently raised its price target for Rapport Therapeutics (NASDAQ: RAPP) to $86.00 from $75.00 on October 20, 2026. This new target represents a substantial increase, approximately 195% above the stock's $29.19 price when the target was published. It's important to remember that a price target is an analyst’s estimate of what a stock could be worth, not a guaranteed future price.
Rapport Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company, focuses on developing innovative drugs for brain and nervous system conditions. Its lead candidate, RAP-219, is currently being studied for both bipolar mania and focal epilepsy. Raymond James’s decision to issue a higher price target comes as Rapport reports positive results from a Phase 2 clinical trial of RAP-219 in adults with acute bipolar mania.
The Phase 2 trial successfully met its primary endpoint at Week 3. Patients receiving RAP-219 demonstrated an improvement of 3.1 points more than those on a placebo, as measured by the Young Mania Rating Scale. This outcome was supported by a p-value of 0.045, which is considered statistically significant, as a figure below 0.05 indicates a low probability of the result occurring by chance.
Furthermore, patients treated with RAP-219 experienced an average 15.4-point drop in mania scores from the baseline at the start of the trial. Importantly, all treatment-emergent adverse events observed during the study period were classified as mild or moderate, indicating a favorable safety profile. Rapport Therapeutics stated that these promising results bolster their plans for late-stage testing, while earlier positive Phase 2 data in focal epilepsy suggest another potential therapeutic application for the drug.
Following the positive news, as highlighted by Benzinga, Rapport Therapeutics' premarket trading volume surged to approximately 1.44 million shares, significantly higher than its average of roughly 351,000 shares. The stock later traded at $29.95, marking an increase of $1.35, or 4.72%, with a total volume of about 6.57 million shares. Investment bank Jefferies estimates that RAP-219 could potentially achieve $1 billion in peak annual sales, underscoring its significant commercial potential, although the drug remains in development.
