Uber Technologies (NYSE: UBER) operates a global on-demand platform for transportation, food delivery, grocery, retail, and logistics services. The company’s core businesses include ride-hailing and Uber Eats, while newer categories such as grocery, retail delivery, and membership services are helping increase customer engagement and cross-platform usage.
Analyst sentiment toward Uber remains broadly positive. Market data from Markets Insider shows Citigroup previously maintained a “Buy” rating on the stock, while the broader analyst group remains heavily tilted toward Buy ratings. Uber shares recently traded around $71.59, giving the company a market capitalization of approximately $146.78 billion.
Uber’s recent growth has been stronger in gross bookings than in reported revenue, so the company’s growth should not be described as “over 20% top-line growth.” In the first quarter of 2026, Uber reported that gross bookings rose 25% year over year to $53.7 billion, while revenue increased 14% to $13.2 billion. The company also reported that trips grew 20% year over year, reflecting continued demand across its platform.
Despite solid operating performance, Uber’s stock has faced pressure from investor concerns about future competition from autonomous vehicles and robotaxis. In a sign of confidence, CEO Dara Khosrowshahi recently purchased 141,000 shares at an average price of about $70.96, bringing the transaction value to roughly $10 million and increasing his direct holdings to approximately 1.37 million shares.
Uber’s delivery business remains an important growth opportunity. The company continues to push beyond restaurant delivery into grocery and retail, supporting its broader goal of becoming a platform where users can “get anything.” Uber One is also central to this strategy, with the company reporting more than 50 million members globally and noting that members account for about half of gross bookings across Mobility and Delivery, according to Uber.
Looking ahead, Uber’s growth prospects depend on continued delivery expansion, membership adoption, disciplined investment in autonomous-vehicle partnerships, and its ability to defend its core mobility business. While robotaxis remain a competitive risk, Uber’s scale, strong user engagement, and expanding delivery ecosystem continue to support its long-term investment case.
